Chelsea Edge Closer To Champions League With Victory Over Spurs

Chelsea edge closer to Champions League with victory over Spurs

Jackson and Jorginho secure huge three points for Thomas Tuchel's side

Thomas Tuchel declared his team's 2-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur as their "best performance" since he took charge of the Blues in January.

Chelsea took a step in the right direction in Matchweek 36 with a dominating 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, moving into the top four and boosting their chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Ross Barkley created the opener for Andreas Christensen to volley the Blues in front on 15 minutes and Kai Havertz missed a penalty in the second half. But it mattered little as Conor Gallagher's low cross was turned in by substitute Billy Gilmour to seal the points on 79 minutes.

The result means Chelsea are now guaranteed to finish above Tottenham in the Premier League table and leaves them a point clear of Leicester City in fourth place. A fourth-place finish will secure Champions League qualification if Manchester City beat Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Conclusion: The win over Tottenham was a huge boost for Chelsea's top-four hopes and showed that they are finally starting to find their form under Tuchel. With just two games remaining in the season, the Blues are now in a strong position to secure a place in next season's Champions League.
